2007 Arizona Art Educator of the Year
2007 Arizona Art Educator of the Year - Debbi Engbring

Debbi Engbring One outstanding AAEA/NAEA member is honored from each state/ province for service and contributions to art education that merits recognition and acclaim. Eligibility — Active AAEA/NAEA members who hold membership in the state/province in which they are nominated.

Arizona Art Education Association Awards Program Program Objectives
  • To recognize excellence in the many outstanding individuals and programs of AAEA.
  • To focus professional attention on quality art education and exemplary art educators.
  • To increase public awareness of the importance of quality art education.
  • To set standards for quality art education and show how they can be achieved.
  • To provide tangible recognition of achievement, earn respect of colleagues, and enhance professional opportunities for AAEA members.

Who Many Nominate?
AAEA members

Eligibility AAEA members who meet the established criteria.

Membership is not required for the Distinguished Service (Outside the Profession) award or the Supervision/Administration award, but the nominator must be a member.

Deadlines - September 1

Regional deadlines are set by individual regional coordinators.

A Nomination Form, Include a one-page resume and two letters of recommendation and a photograph, or digital photograph burned to disk (.JPG format).

Upon notification, each award recipient is asked to provide pertinent information so press releases may be sent by AAEA to employers, local media, art departments, school administrators, etc.

Award Selection - Nominations and supporting materials must be submitted to the AAEA Awards Committee Chairperson by September 1 st. The Awards Committee will assess nominations based on a corresponding rubric for that particular award.

Awards Presentations - Awards are presented in the fall at the annual AAEA conference. Winners are announced in the AAEA newsletter.

These outstanding individuals have done so much for art teachers, students and the arts in Arizona. They have created incredible programs, helped develop the standards, research and implement new concepts, preserve the history of AAEA and so much more to set a standard for all supporters and educators in the arts for Arizona.

Awards will be presented to these individuals at the AAEA Conference in Laughlin on November 18th.
