   Throughout the year there are many opportunities for you to increase your content knowledge. Sign up for a regional AAEA workshop or check out the local museum for workshop opportunities.

Professional Development Activities Around our State


AAEA Professional Development and Scholarship Fund


PURPOSE: To provide funding in whole or part for an active AAEA member for the purpose of:

A. Further study in Art Education (tuition)

B. Attendance and participation at a convention, conference, workshop, seminar, etc., dealing with Art Education (travel, and/or registration)

C. Attendance and participation in leadership workshop/seminar which provides leadership training (travel and/or registration)

FUNDING: Funding for this project is generated from annual interest accrued from a Certificate of Deposit Account, fundraisers and funds designated by the AAEA Council for this purpose.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applicant must complete the Professional Development and Scholarship Fund (PDSF) Application Form and return it to the Treasurer, who is the chairperson of the Scholarship Selection Committee, two months before the event for which the AAEA Member is requesting a scholarship. Scholarship applications not submitted two months prior to the event will be reviewed and considered based on the availability of remaining funds.

SELECTION PROCEDURES: The Scholarship Selection Committee will be composed of no less than three members including: 1) the Current AAEA Treasurer as Committee Chairperson, 2) one Current AAEA Council member, and 3) one Current AAEA Member-at-Large. Applications will be assessed based on a rubric approved by the AAEA Council, and scholarship recipients will be notified within a month of when their application was received .

Appointments to this committee are the responsibility of the President. Members will serve a two-year term. AAEA members are not eligible to receive monies from this fund while serving on the Executive Board or on the Scholarship Selection Committee.

AWARDING OF FUNDS:
Recipients must provide verification of attendance/participation and provide receipts for the use of these awarded funds. In addition recipients must also submit a lesson plan or newsletter article for publication in the AAEA newsletter or on the AAEA web site, OR organize and implement a regional workshop. Money will be reimbursed directly to the applicant after the AAEA Treasurer receives the receipts and verification of attendance, the publication of an article or lesson, or implementation of workshop.
