2014 Visual Arts Student Awards

The annual statewide VASA Exhibition, representing the finest examples of secondary student art (grades 7-12) in the state! Presented this year by the Arizona Art Education Association.

The show will be held February 15th through March 1st at the Performing Arts Center gallery of Surprise, Arizona.

Entry

The Commitment and Entry Form is designed so that a teacher may indicate their commitment to participate in the 2014 VASA Exhibition. Each teacher may submit a total of up to two pieces of student art for the exhibition.

Please note, that there are different entry fees for AAEA members and non-members (see below). Entry Fees, in the form of a check, money order, or purchase order (no cash) made payable to AAEA must accompany the Commitment and Entry Form for the submission to be complete. Forms submitted without the Entry Fee will not be considered.

Entry forms and fees are due January 17th, 2014. Mailed in entries must be post marked by that date. The VASA chairs will notify teachers that their entries have been accepted into the exhibition and Inventory forms will be emailed out.

Submission Requirements

  • Each art educator may enter up to two pieces
  • Each entry must be from a different student (one piece per student)
  • The first 75 teachers to submit entry forms will be admitted to the show.
  • The artwork must be dropped off at the Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 15th from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • A new Mail-in option is available:
    • All mailed in work must be received no later than February 3rd.
    • Additional charge for rental of the frames and for cutting of the mattes.
    • Mattes will be sent home with artwork. Frames will not be allowed to leave at pick up.
    • Three sizes of frames are available: 11x14, 16x20, 18x24
    • Must allow for at least a 1” matte border on all sides.
    • Any size frame is $10 rental fee.
    • Matting of artwork is $5 per piece.

Artwork Requirements

Entries must be original work, executed by the artist’s own hand, without mechanicals, projected images or reproduced/traced images. Size requirements will be strictly enforced, any work exceeding size limitations will be rejected at drop-off.

2-Dimensional Work
  • Not to Exceed 30”x 30”
  • Must be in a black frame
  • Must be framed with glass
  • Must be wired for installation (no saw tooth)
3-Dimensional Work
  • Not to Exceed 20”x 20”x 20”
  • If you have a clear protective box or case for jewelry, that may also be submitted with the work.
